WASHINGTON — A suspect has been apprehended after a deadly hit-and-run incident聽in Prince George鈥檚 County Thursday night.
According to Prince George鈥檚 County police, an officer attempted to make a traffic stop around 8:45 p.m. on Branch Avenue near Colebrooke Drive. The suspect, in an SUV, drove away and hit a police officer.
The SUV was spotted minutes later. The driver lost control and hit three other vehicles before coming to a stop, police said.
The suspect, a male, got out of the SUV聽and ran from the scene. According to police, officers pursued on foot, and the suspect was apprehended about an hour later.
Three people were injured, including the Prince George鈥檚 County police officer. The officer and another individual suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, but one person died as a result of their injuries. Police said that person was the driver of one of the vehicles that was hit.
