3 injured in Alexandria apartment fire

Alexandria fire have put out the 2-alarm fire at an apartment building on Valley Drive in Alexandria.

WASHINGTON 鈥� Three people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and possible burns after a two-alarm fire broke out at an apartment building in Alexandria.

Battalion Chief Christopher Kunkle with Alexandria Fire and EMS said none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

A firefighter was also hurt battling the blaze. The injury was described as a minor arm injury and the firefighter received treatment on the scene.

Three families were displaced by the fire and a聽spokesman for the National Capital Area Red Cross said .

More than 50 firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire. On Twitter, the department said the call came in a little before 11 a.m.

It was put out shortly before 1:30 on Friday 聽afternoon, according to WTOP’s Mike Murillo.

The 聽that the fire started in an apartment and extended to the roof and that medics were on scene treating people.

Heavy fire. 2nd Alarm is en route. Command advising multiple burned victims. Requested 2 additional medics for a total of 4.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this point.
