Maryland State House struck by lightning

WASHINGTON 鈥斅燫eports of smoke coming from the Maryland State House in Annapolis came in after storms rolled through the area, but officials say聽it was a false alarm.

Annapolis Fire Department Captain聽Richard Svoboda says firefighters responded to the State House for a reported fire around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, crews observed that the sprinkler system was activated after the building was struck by lightning.

No smoke or fire was found.聽Svoboda says the water mist appeared to many bystanders as smoke coming from the building.

There were no reported injuries.
