WASHINGTON 鈥� Arlington County police officers聽spent eight hours searching the home of a man named a person of interest in his estranged wife’s murder. Investigators聽pulled away with a pickup truck loaded聽with聽bicycles and trash bags full of items.
The search was in connection with the April murder of 42-year-old Bonnie Black found stabbed to聽death in her bedroom.聽Suspicions arose the next day when her young boys were seen playing outside in their pajamas.
Officers knocked on David Black’s door early Thursday morning and served him with a sealed warrant to search his home.
After consulting with the state lab investigators “believe there are possible additional items that contain forensic evidence in the home,” said Dustin Sternbeck, a spokesman with Arlington County Police.
David Black聽has never been named a聽suspect, so when investigators arrived at his home, his attorney said the surprise was dismaying.
In a statement Ryan Campbell said, “We have also shared with the Arlington County Police the results of our own investigation to help them identify and arrest the person or persons responsible for this horrible event.”
Campbell says Black maintains his innocence.
During the search, Commonwealth’s Attorney for Arlington Theo Stamos confirms she met with Bonnie Black’s family in an appointment scheduled weeks ago. She says the investigation is still ongoing.
The case has created a sense of . Bonnie Black was killed almost five months ago, and聽so far there has been no arrest.
