WASHINGTON 鈥斅燭he District Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking has approved rate increases for the District’s health insurance marketplace that will average 15.6 percent for individuals getting coverage under the DC Health Link.
After its annual rate review process, two out of the four insurers in the marketplace revised their rates down from their initial filings, one as much as half of what proposed, the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking said.
It also approved a rate increase for businesses getting small group plans through the marketplace averaging 7.26 percent.
鈥淒ISB completed a transparent, extended and rigorous rate review process to ensure District residents and small businesses are paying competitive prices for the plans offered by companies on the District鈥檚 health insurance marketplace,鈥 said Commissioner Stephen C. Taylor.
The same four major insurance companies as last year 鈥 Aetna, CareFirst BlueCross BlueSheild, Kaiser Permanente and UnitedHealthcare聽鈥 will have plans on the D.C. Health Link.
Aetna and UnitedHealthcare plans are the only ones available in the small business market for 2018.
