WASHINGTON — Thousands of people from across the region and the nation gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to take part in a unique Easter Sunrise Service Sunday.
“We’re getting our praise on,” Denise Patterson said. “He has risen!鈥�
The service聽offers Christians the unique opportunity to celebrate Easter Sunday watching聽the sun rise over the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol dome in the background.
鈥淭his is amazing to watch all of these Christians gathered for one special purpose today,鈥� James Payne told WTOP.聽 鈥淚t鈥檚 pretty awesome.鈥�
People聽came from various parts of the U.S. to attend the service.
鈥淚 come out here every year,鈥� said Crystal Trujillo, who traveled from New Mexico. 聽鈥淚t鈥檚 a beautiful view.”
Attendee Cindy Libby-Green said the聽thing that makes this event different from others is the location.
鈥淭his is the heart of our country right here,” she said.
