WASHINGTON 鈥斅燜riends and family gathered Saturday night聽to remember a teen who died in a fiery crash, and who was only聽months away from becoming聽a new dad.
An emotional聽tribute was held for聽19-year-old Tyrie Bailey at a park in Southeast D.C., reports.
The teen died Wednesday evening on Suitland Parkway when a car he was a passenger in went up in flames after running a red light and slamming into a Metrobus.
At the vigil, Bailey聽was remembered for his big smile and his excitement聽to become a new father.
His fianc茅e, Asija Ellerbe, 19, is six months pregnant with their child.聽 She read a poem that was written from the perspective聽of their unborn child,聽“I will never forget the memories that my mommy will give me in remembrance of you.聽 Love, Aria.”
Ellerbe tells NBC Washington what hurts the most is that he will never get to see their baby girl.聽 She said she is just, “taking it day by day.聽Can’t really say, like, what’s next.聽 Just taking it step by step.”
