‘The Red Violin’ visits WTOP ahead of DC, Va. shows (Video)

WASHINGTON —聽Chills were felt Friday inside the Glass Enclosed Nerve Center.

Classical violinist 聽visited WTOP with her 1720 , which disappeared for centuries before famously being auctioned at the 1990 Christe’s auction.

That auction inspired Fran莽ois Girard’s聽Oscar-nominated French film聽 (1998), which tracked the聽perfect red-colored violin across three centuries of聽owners from different countries.

This weekend, Pitcairn will聽 Vivaldi鈥檚 Four Seasons (鈥淪pring,鈥 鈥淪ummer, 鈥淎utumn,鈥 鈥淲inter鈥) with the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra at Northern Virginia Community College’s Schlesinger Concert Hall on Saturday聽night and at George Washington University’s Masonic Temple on Sunday.

But first, she busted out the priceless violin for a live performance at WTOP.
