Sidney Poitier dies at 94

Sidney Poitier, the first black man to win the Oscar for Best Actor, dies at 94.

The Bahamian foreign ministry made the announcement, according to CBS 太子探花.

The groundbreaking actor transformed how Black people are portrayed on screen.

The legendary actor was known for his roles in “Guess Who鈥檚 Coming to Dinner,” “In the Heat of the Night” and “Lilies of the Field.”

The Guardian Nassau newspaper was the first to confirm Poitier’s death.

The actor, who went on to become a director, has been honored by the Kennedy Center.

In 2009, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from then-President Barack Obama.
