WASHINGTON — A Lorton man died at the scene of a single-car crash after his truck struck a guardrail and tree Saturday night.
Fairfax County police responded to the report of the crash in the 8300 block of Alban Road on Saturday Aug. 8, shortly before 11 p.m.
Jose De Jesus Caballero, 29, was heading southbound on Alban Road聽in his聽2007 Ford F 150 pickup, when he drifted across the double-yellow line and veered off the road, say.
Caballero’s truck struck聽a guardrail,聽 rolled down an embankment and hit聽a tree, causing the roof to collapse. Police say the roof collapse crushed and pinned him inside the vehicle.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. They say speed doesn’t appear to be a factor, but聽are still looking into聽whether alcohol was a factor.
