‘400 beers’: Snallygaster 2017 will have brew, grub and more on tap

WASHINGTON 鈥 Summer is winding down, but don’t despair: D.C.’s biggest beer festival is nearly here.

is put on by the Neighborhood Restaurant Group at The Yards, next to Nationals Park in Southeast, and will take place Saturday, Sept. 23.

鈥淚t鈥檚 going to be the biggest, craziest one yet,鈥 said Greg Engert, NRG beer director. 鈥淣early 400 beers, 150 brewers.鈥

Did someone say 400 beers?

鈥淲e鈥檙e increasing the lot by about a third, so it鈥檚 going to be even more spacious, a lot more games and music and food,鈥 Engert added.

General admission are $35, which includes a festival mug, plus 30 food and drink tickets. Want to get in and start sampling all those brews sooner? VIP tickets are $60.

They鈥檙e also welcoming 40 new brewers this year, Engert said, many of which don鈥檛 normally send their products to the D.C. area.

鈥淲e could not be more excited,鈥 he said.

According to the Snallygaster website, the event also serves 鈥渁s the largest annual fundraiser for Arcadia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable local food system.鈥
