WASHINGTON —聽The聽city of Key West is already naturally colorful聽but now聽it has聽added rainbow聽crosswalks. The colorful walkways were installed Thursday聽in the heart of the city鈥檚 LGBT entertainment district, at the intersection of Duval and Petronia streets, .
The crosswalks feature bands of all six colors of the rainbow flag, an internationally recognized symbol of gay and lesbian unity and spans all four corners of the intersection.
The crosswalks cost $4,000. Key West Business Guild Executive Director Matt Hon said in other reports that the guild would pay half and that the other $2,000 comes from individual donations.
