WASHINGTON —聽How do take your coffee? With cream, sugar or a side of soul mate?
With Valentine鈥檚 Day around the corner, Starbucks is teaming up with Match.com to throw the 鈥渨orld鈥檚 largest Starbucks date鈥 at participating locations in the U.S. and Canada on Feb. 13.
From 2 p.m. until close, coffee fans looking for love can visit Starbucks locations and choose from special menu pairings available for $5.
The 鈥渨orld鈥檚 largest Starbucks date鈥澛爄s just part of Starbucks’ effort to bring people together, says Starbucks Global Chief Marketing Officer Sharon Rothstein in a statement.
According to Match, more than one in three singles said that having coffee together is a favorite activity for a first date. Also, more than 3 million members Match.com members list 鈥渃offee and conversation鈥 as one of their interests.
鈥淔or more than 40 years Starbucks has been a place to connect over a great cup of coffee. We鈥檙e a place where people come together to share important life moments 鈥 big and small. We鈥檝e been witness to first dates, marriage proposals, job interviews, friends and families reunited, communities gathering, and so much more in our stores around the world,鈥 Rothstein said in .
Last week, Starbucks made it even easier to meet your mate at all while grabbing a coffee. The coffee giant launched a 鈥淢eet at Starbucks鈥 feature on the online dating website.
Using the feature, members can send an email to someone they might like and can even find a convenient location for their Starbucks date using the Starbucks store locator.
鈥淭ogether, Starbucks and Match have made it easier than ever to turn that first flirt into a first date,鈥 said Sam Yagan, chief executive officer of The Match Group, said in a news release. 鈥淢atch is a ubiquitous part of singles鈥 lives generating more dates than anyone else and more first dates happen at Starbucks than anywhere else.鈥
