The search for a missing man in the Potomac River ended for a second straight evening Tuesday, with crews preparing to continue their effort Wednesday.
Rescue crews returned to the river Tuesday morning with Montgomery County police’s Managed Search Operations Team coordinating the search.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Assistant Chief Alan Butsch told WTOP that it is “possible” crews will continue their search on Wednesday. The missing person’s identity has not been released.

Fairfax and Montgomery county rescue crews began searching the waters around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
For nearly 2 hours, rescue boats scoured the Potomac River between Carderock and the American Legion Bridge. Montgomery County Fire spokesperson Pete Piringer聽聽a U.S. Park Police helicopter also assisted with the search.聽
Emergency crews did find the man’s “personal items” south of the bridge, but not the missing swimmer.
Rescue officials said Montgomery County police are taking over the investigation.聽
