Gov. Larry Hogan cancels schedule to be with father after major stroke

WASHINGTON 鈥 Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan canceled his appearances on Thursday to be with his ailing father.

The governor鈥檚 father, former Congressman Larry Hogan Senior, had a major stroke on Saturday, his office reports.

The elder Hogan has been receiving professional care since Saturday, said Deputy Director of Communications Amelia Chasse.

鈥淯nfortunately, his condition has declined, and the governor postponed his schedule to be by his side,鈥 Chasse said in a statement.

Larry Hogan Senior represented Maryland鈥檚 5th Congressional District 鈥 an area that includes Prince George鈥檚 and Charles counties 鈥 from 1969 through 1975. He went on to be Prince George鈥檚 County Executive from December 1978 through December 1982.
