Black bear sighted in Damascus area

WASHINGTON —聽Damascus area residents have reported multiple聽sightings of a聽black bear at locations in and around Oak Ridge Park in Montgomery County.

That’s not uncommon this time of year, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.聽In early summer,聽young bears begin聽to find their聽territory.

Police officers are telling residents聽not to approach or feed聽bears that they聽encounter. 聽You should never corner a bear; allow it a route of escape.
