MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. 鈥 Montgomery County investigators say more than 20 people watched as a man was brutally beaten in his neighborhood but no one has come forward. Now investigators are asking for the public鈥檚 help.
Bradley Colmes鈥 partner of 22-years, Bobby Wilson, made a plea on his behalf.
鈥淚 just ask that anybody who seen who did this to him to come forward,鈥 Wilson said to a group of reporters Tuesday afternoon at their Montgomery Village townhome community.
He recounted the day that Colmes collapsed at the front door of their home, bloody and beaten. It was after 10:40 p.m. and Wilson called 911. Colmes was rushed to the hospital where he died days later as a result of a blood clot. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide.
鈥淓verybody that he seen, he鈥檇 greet them with a smile. If they needed something, he鈥檇 put his own troubles to the side,鈥 Wilson says of his partner, which is part of the reason he can鈥檛 understand why Colmes would be the victim of a crime in a neighborhood they had lived in for five years.
Major Crimes Captain Darren Franke says investigators had a chance to talk to Colmes before he died. And despite a shattered jaw, he was able to give them some information about the June 12 assault. He told police that more than 20 young people were watching as he was attacked. But police say they haven鈥檛 heard from anyone.
鈥淭hey may simply just not want to be involved. But the message to the community is you have to be involved. We can only do so much without the assistance of the community,鈥 Franke says.
A $10,000 reward is being offered for any tips that lead to a conviction in this case.
