WASHINGTON 鈥 Montgomery County police have positively identified the remains of two children who were among seven people who died in an Aug. 10 three-alarm fire at a Silver Spring apartment complex.
Deibi 鈥淒avid鈥 Samir Lainez Morales, 8, and Fernando Josue Hernandez Orellana, 3, were positively identified by investigators, Montgomery County police said Tuesday.
The two children were among those listed by police as missing after the explosion and fire at the Flower Branch apartments.
Last week, police said three people had been positively identified through the use of DNA. They are Maria Auxiliadorai Castellon-Martinez, 53; Augusto Jimenez Sr., 2; and Saul Paniagua, 65.
Police recovered the remains of seven people in the wreckage of the apartment complex, which was set ablaze , officials said last week. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said there is no indication a criminal act occurred.
Police have still not positively identified two of the remains. The National Transportation Safety Board is continuing to investigate what led to the explosion.
