50 years later, a new Hendrix song emerges

WASHINGTON 鈥 You may think you know every piece of music Jimi Hendrix ever released, even posthumously. Until this week, you may have even been right. But a brand-new Hendrix track from 50 years ago has resurfaced.

has a video with the audio track of an instrumental written and performed by Hendrix as part of Curtis Knight and The Squires, before Hendrix went to London, was discovered by Animals bassist Chas Chandler and the Jimi Hendrix Experience began. The instrumental song is called 鈥淪tation Break.鈥

The song is one of several Squires tracks that mired Hendrix and his estate in legal troubles for decades, as RSVP Records Owner Ed Chalpin claimed to have the suddenly famous guitarist under contract.

Still, the recordings were spruced up, the Hendrix family got control of them, and 鈥淵ou Can鈥檛 Use My Name: Curtis Knight & the Squires (Featuring Jimi Hendrix)鈥 comes out March 24, the Daily Beast says.

The Daily Beast adds that some of the songs from 鈥淵ou Can鈥檛 Use My Name鈥 have shown up on bootlegs over the years, 鈥淪tation Break鈥 is a truly unheard treasure.
