Georgia-Kentucky Preview Capsule

The Associated Press

No. 17 Georgia (6-2, 4-2 SEC) at Kentucky (5-4, 2-4), noon EDT (ESPN)

Line: Georgia by 10.

Series record: Georgia leads 53-12-2.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

With its national championship hopes done following last week’s loss to Florida, Georgia now moves on toward trying to win and stay in SEC East contention. Kentucky aims to end a three-game losing streak and become bowl eligible with a sixth victory.

KEY MATCHUP

Georgia RB Nick Chubb vs. Kentucky’s defense. Though the Bulldogs eagerly await Todd Gurley’s return next week from a four-game suspension, Chubb has been an excellent fill-in. He has carried 89 times for 501 yards and four touchdowns the past three games and has 725 yards rushing overall. Kentucky is next to last in the SEC against the run at nearly 189 yards allowed per game, which means the Wildcats must step it up and force Georgia to throw.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Georgia: QB Hutson Mason is coming off a season-high 319-yard passing game against Florida helped by career bests of 26 completions on 42 attempts. He has completed nearly 68 percent of his attempts for 1,341 yards, 11 TDs and just three interceptions. He has also been sacked 13 times and faces a Kentucky pass rush tied for fourth in the SEC with 23 sacks.

Kentucky: Junior LB Josh Forrest is coming off his fourth game with double-digit tackles in the past seven and leads the Wildcats with 75 stops. He has two interceptions including one against top-ranked Mississippi State, one sack and seven tackles for loss totaling 26 yards. He has at least one big play in every game this season.
