#10 — #GameofThrones: The HBO series draws a vast audience that absolutely loves to live-tweet episodes, turning big moments into memes and gifs and hashing out the best and worst of the week. This season of course, saw the resurrection of Jon Snow and hardcore revenge for Cersei and Sansa.
#9 — #RIP: This year saw the loss of many transformational athletes — Muhammad Ali, Pat Summitt, and inspiring artists — David Bowie, Prince.
#8 — #Trump: Not surprisingly, Donald Trump, who spent the last year stumping on Twitter, while supporters and detractors alike took the idea of viral politics to new levels, is one of the top global trending topics of 2016. (Twittter)
