Reed Baker-Whiting and Andy Nájar score stoppage-time goals, Nashville beats Crew 3-2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Reed Baker-Whiting and Andy Nájar scored stoppage-time goals, Hany Mukhtar added a goal and an assist, and Nashville SC beat the Columbus Crew 3-2 on Saturday night for their third consecutive win.

Nashville (15-2-4), the points leader in all of MLS with 49, is off to the best 21-game start in MLS history.

The Crew (5-11-5) have lost three straight are are winless in their last four.

Baker-Whiting scored his first career goal when headed home a corner kick played in to the back post by Mukhtar to make it 2-2 in the third minute of stoppage time and Nájar rolled a shot from the right side of the area that slipped inside the back post about two minutes later to cap the scoring.

Mukhtar scored to give Nashville a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute. Daniel Lovitz chipped an entry pass to the left side of the area, where Mukhtar patiently shielded off a defender and then blasted a rising half-volley inside the near post.

Mohamed Farsi put away a first-touch shot from the right side, his first goal this season, to make it 1-1 in the 58th.

André Gomes, who signed with Columbus in February, scored his first career MLS goal in the 68th minute to give the Crew a 2-1 lead. The 33-year-old Portugal international scored on a free kick from 27 yards out.

Nashville beat the Crew in Columbus on March 14.
