Yankees starting pitcher Ryan Weathers leaves game against Blue Jays with left forearm discomfort

NEW YORK (AP) 鈥 New York Yankees starting pitcher Ryan Weathers left Saturday鈥檚 game against the Toronto Blue Jays in the fourth inning because of left forearm discomfort.

Weathers undergwent further imaging and the Yankees did not announce any results.

鈥淲e鈥檒l see,鈥 manager Aaron Boone said after New York鈥檚 鈥淵ou don鈥檛 love (it) when a pitcher leaves the game, obviously. So we鈥檒l see what we have.鈥

With runners at first and second, Weathers threw a sweeper out of the strike zone to Myles Straw and felt pain.

After the pitch, Weathers circled the mound and called for catcher Austin Wells.

Boone and a trainer came out to check on Weathers, and Yerry De Los Santos entered the game.

Acquired from the Marlins in January, Weathers is 5-8 with a 3.60 ERA in 25 starts this year. He allowed two runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings before leaving Saturday’s game.

鈥淚 kind of saw him walking off weird and taking some more time,” Wells said. 鈥淚 went out there to check on him and he just said he didn鈥檛 feel right. That was pretty much the extent of the conversation we had.鈥

New York has had 15 players go on the injured list this season, including starting pitchers Max Fried and Carlos Rod贸n. Fried has missed 58 games with a pair of bone bruises in his left elbow, and Rod贸n returned from an elbow injury on Tuesday.

鈥淚 think we鈥檒l be all right,鈥 Boone said. 鈥淥bviously you never want significant pieces to go down. That鈥檚 part of it. I feel like we鈥檙e throwing the ball incredibly well and expect to continue to do that. In the short term that creates an opportunity for someone else. We鈥檝e had people step up all year and we鈥檒l need to do that again.鈥
