WASHINGTON 鈥 Water pooling in the Metro tunnel between Virginia and D.C. on Saturday added delays for Metro riders already affected聽by regular weekend track work, the beginning of round-the-clock work and the on weekends.
A Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority聽spokesperson said Saturday that high water on one of the tracks between Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom had trains sharing a single track聽on the Blue Line between Arlington Cemetery and Foggy Bottom stations, and on the Orange and Silver lines between Clarendon and Foggy Bottom stations.
WMATA’s聽Richard Jordan said crews were just arriving to address the issue at聽8 a.m., so there was no further information.聽There was a聽reported a track issue near Rosslyn Friday night as well, said Metro.
Drains and long-standing water issues are two of the problems workers are addressing during the聽 outside Ballston. The work is expected to affect聽 of riders over the next 13 days.
Metro has also been working for weeks on similar, long-standing issues elsewhere, including the . Scheduled track work affects all lines this weekend.
Much of the scheduled聽track work is separate from the 聽that will be performed聽.
The scheduled track work plus聽the round-the-clock work mean longer聽waits and , even during rush hour.
