Man charged after throwing brick at Sen. Mark Warner’s Roanoke office

WASHINGTON 鈥� Police arrested a man for throwing a brick and shattering glass Monday at Sen. Mark Warner’s office in Roanoke, Virginia. James Trainor, 36, was arrested and charged with property damage, The Associated Press reports. The vandalism occurred early Monday morning, before the office opened at 8 a.m., and no one was inside at the time, Roanoke police said. Warner, D-Va., tweeted about the vandalism Monday and thanked police for their “quick, professional response.”

Police said Warner’s office was the only building hit and that Trainor targeted the senator’s office. “The motive is under investigation,” said Caitlyn Cline, spokeswoman for the Roanoke Police Department. “We do believe that he picked out this building specifically, but we haven’t determined why.” U.S. Capitol Police have joined the investigation. Sterling man charged in fentanyl case linked to Park View High School overdoses, sheriff says

A Sterling, Virginia, man has been arrested and charged in a fentanyl distribution investigation that the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said is connected to overdoses involving Park View High School students. The sheriff's office said Isaac Melendez-Carranza, 31, was charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance and one count of sale of drugs near certain properties. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office told WTOP that Melendez-Carranza is in the U.S. illegally and that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement "has placed a detainer on him." Investigators with the Drug and Gang Unit identified Melendez-Carranza as a suspected dealer connected to overdoses involving Park View High School students in May, according to the sheriff's office.
