A slow-moving storm system will bring multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms to the D.C. region through Monday. While a few stronger storms are possible, especially west of Interstate 95, the primary concern will be heavy rainfall capable of producing torrential downpours and localized flash flooding.

The unsettled pattern continues Monday with periods of rain and thunderstorms in a warm, humid air mass. Daily chances for showers and storms remain in the forecast Tuesday and Wednesday. Frequent lightning, locally gusty winds and additional heavy rainfall are possible, with flooding concerns persisting in areas that receive repeated rounds of rain. A few more breaks in the clouds Wednesday could allow temperatures to climb higher and help fuel additional afternoon storm development.
