Matt Ritter, WTOP Meteorologist

SATURDAY:
Mostly cloudy, rain arrives in the mid-afternoon.
Highs: Low to mid 60s.
Winds:聽E 5-15
The cold front that touched off yesterday’s scattered thunderstorms is draped to our south now, and clouds and easterly winds will keep it much cooler compared to yesterday, especially considering the cooler start to the day. Temperatures will be below average, and a disturbance riding the front will send more wet weather our way, arriving in the afternoon.

SATURDAY NIGHT:
Lingering drizzle and fog
Lows: Upper 40s to low 50s.
Winds:聽NE 5-10
Unlike yesterday’s scattered activity, rainfall impacting the region will be more widespread overall. It will last into the evening, tapering off after midnight.

SUNDAY:
Cloudy & unseasonably cool. Patchy drizzle.
Highs: 55-60
Winds: Northeast 5-15
A so-called “stable weather situation,” will make an appearance so clouds and drizzly conditions will be slow to improve Sunday, as temperatures stay well below average. A center of high pressure will finally build in closer on Monday, and a shift in wind direction to more northerly will start to dry us out and bring a return to at least partly sunny skies.聽

MONDAY:
Gradual clearing, becoming partly sunny. More seasonably mild
Highs: Near 70s.
A much-needed reset. High pressure builds in, skies turn mostly sunny, and rain chances drop out completely. Temperatures recover into the mid 60s, and while that鈥檚 still a touch below late-April averages, it will feel far more comfortable compared to the damp chill of the weekend.

TUESDAY:
Mostly sunny. Seasonably mild.
Highs: Low 70s.
The next storm system will be a more potent one and that will bring a chance for more beneficial rains but also possible thunderstorms next Wednesday into Thursday.
