Three confirmed tornadoes touched down in Maryland

WASHINGTON – The National Weather Service has confirmed three tornadoes touched down in Maryland during Monday night’s storm.

The first struck in Fork, Md., in Baltimore County around 3:30 p.m. and had maximum wind speeds of 80 miles per hour.

Another tornado was confirmed in Locust Point in Baltimore City, Md., around 3:44 p.m. with maximum wind speeds of 80 miles per hour.

A metal building in the south Locust Point Marine Terminal was damaged with a waterspout over the Patapsco River came onshore and changed into a small tornado.

The third confirmed tornado occurred in Coltons Point, Md., around 9:01 p.m. with maximum wind speeds of 65 miles per hour.

Minor tree and roof damage resulted from the tornado, in the area of Colton Point Road.

A survey team from the weather service has not yet submitted its results for the suspected tornado in Howard County.
