NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) 鈥� coach Mike Macdonald said Sunday night that rookie linebacker will miss months with a broken right ankle, while offensive lineman Mason Richman suffered his own 鈥渓ong-term injury鈥� in the Seahawks’
鈥淭wo guys that we love, that play our style of ball, that are our type of guys,鈥� Macdonald said of Richman and Clark. 鈥淭eammates love 鈥檈m, great teammates, great guys, great football players. They have great futures. It鈥檚 a heartbreaker, honestly. We鈥檝e had three heartbreakers this week, which is tough.鈥�
Seahawks wide receiver Friday from Seattle’s with the Titans and was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
Richman went down on the opening drive and was helped to the sideline after getting his right leg checked while laying down on the field. Macdonald said they have to figure out what the specific issue is, but he called it a 鈥渕ajor injury, a long-term injury.鈥�
On Seattle鈥檚 first defensive play, Clark broke his right ankle and Macdonald said he鈥檒l miss months. Trainers put his leg in an air cast, and players from both teams came up to the rookie before he was carted off the field. Clark was Seattle鈥檚 second-round pick and 64th overall out of Texas Christian.
Linebacker Connor O’Toole said Clark’s injury is the type that almost takes the life out of a game.
鈥淛ust to know what he鈥檚 going to go through and the pain that he鈥檚 in, it鈥檚 just bigger than football at that point I feel like,” O’Toole said. “And your heart breaks for your brother, so it takes a minute to regroup as a team. We just lift him up and he鈥檒l be in our prayers.鈥�
