WASHINGTON 鈥� All your friends are dead. At least according to Facebook.
On Friday afternoon,聽befuddled Facebook users logged in only to find their pages had been 鈥渕emorialized,鈥� as though they were no longer living.
Even Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg鈥檚 page was hit. A small graphic of a blue daisy and the words, 鈥淲e hope people who love Mark will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate his life,鈥� was perched at the top his Facebook page.
In an emailed statement, a Facebook spokesperson described the postings as a “terrible error” and said that it has been fixed:
鈥淔or a brief period today, a message meant for memorialized profiles was mistakenly posted to other accounts. This was a terrible error that we have now fixed. We are very sorry that this happened and we worked as quickly as possible to fix it.鈥�
